Follow Me On: Mixcloud.com/Djchino_LES_62 Born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan... Grew up in the Jacob Riis Housing Projects. I remember as a young kid at the early age of 6, 7, 8, until i was 13 years old, listening to music in the car. Back then it was in the late 60's, it was also the era of rock and roll and Motown. Beatles, Chicago, The dimension and so on, who can forget Earth Wind & Fire, Gladys' Knight and the pimps and so many more. The music Iheard then, always struck a cord in my heart & Soul...Each record was some what recorded in my head like a computer ☺. Then in the early 1970's, me at the age of, oh lets say 10 or 11 years old, Iremember the dj's doing block parties, with these big huge speakers and 2 turntables, scratching to the songs like apache, yellow sunshine, & good times and so much more! I was soooo Hooked, i was so mesmerized by the dj's going back and fourth with 2 of the same records scratching, Isaid to my self i want to be a DJ like them! So a short couple of years later at the age of 13 i bought my first 2 turntables, I'll never forget the brands of each item i bought, 2 bsr garrad turntables with 2 Gemini speakers and a Gemini mixer with a old sanyo 4 channel intergrated amp. Wow that is about 39 years ago! Then disco came in☺☺☺ One day i bought my first 12in record at rock & soul recordson 7th ave and 35th st, the song Ibought was Disco Magic by T-Connection.I never stopped being a DJ since then! I also remember buying 12in vinyl's at least once a week from there on then, from places like bates record shop on delancey street. Rock & Soul. Then Vinly records came along in the east village with manny lehman, he was alwayshooking me up with the house music! Since 1975 at the age of 13 Iwas able to collect over 3500 12 inches that Istill have today but put away now...The vinly Ihave is in storage for safe keeping. My days of djying are not over! I continue get music all the time from varioussources, including traxsource, youtubeand more! My mentors are Tony Humphries, Frankie Crocker, Frankie Knuckles, Louie Vega, Shep Pettibone, Larry Levan and more til this day! Life without music would be very boring!
